More Landon News!

Landon is growing up so fast, he has got so many facial expressions, I often wonder what he is thinking, what is going through his sweet little head. He has taken to his daddy very well since Noah quit wearing cologne, they are best buds. He loves to be held be his daddy and will sometimes just stare up at him and get a big grin on his face. Yesterday he was just a giggling when Noah was holding him and talking to him. Noah tells him secrets and makes him promise not to tell anyone, especially mommy, and Landon always starts cooing and gurling when Noah asks him if he can do that, Im not sure if he is agreeing or not. If you are holding him slightly he can push up from his knees to a standing position. He also loves it when I put some of the juices from whatever we are eating for dinner on my finger and let him lick it off. Yesterday for lunch I had left over Chicken Noodle cassarole and I was feeding some of the gooey parts to him and he was loving it. When he was done with what was in his mouth he would look at me and start moving his head as close to me as he could get it and smacking his lips. I also give him some of my popsicle whenever I am eating one and he gets this big wide eyed grin, he of course makes a big mess and slobbers everywhere, but he loves every minute of it and its just so cute to watch. We are going to ask the doctor next visit when is the earliest we can give him baby food, cause he really seems to like it. He is also drolling a lot and like to chew on things, namely his hands and mommy or daddys shoulders, so we felt the inside of his mouth and it feels like he is getting teeth. He also has in the last few weeks discovered his tongue and likes to lick our faces or shoulders. He also sticks it out whenever he if laying down on the bed and makes slurping sounds with it. He has had trouble pooping, so we went to the doctor to see if everything was okay. We had been having to give him a home version of an enima, we would stick the bottom thermometer in his butt and massage his tummy, it worked like a charm, but we did not like having to help him poop, we wanted him to not be so uncomfortable and be able to do it on his own. The doctor said that everything was okay with him, but that it did look like he was getting the makes of a hernia by his right testie, so we have to keep an eye on that. In the mean time, my mother sent us so essential oils to help calm him and help with the colick. It seems to be working, it has moved his crying time from about 3 hours at night to anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, and getting shorter each time. The amazing thing about it though is that it has helped Landon poop on his own, he is now going about 3-4 times a day by himself. Its actually rather cute because you can tell he is going to the bathroom, he grunts a lot and really loud. The other day I woke up to him giggling because he was pooping, I could not help but laugh and kiss him all over. There is nothing in the world like waking up, opening your eyes, and seeing your beautiful babys bright smiling face staring up at you. He has graduated from sleeping on my stomach to sleeping inbetween me and Noah, and surprisingly Noah has managed not to smooch him, yet. Landon takes up the whole bed however, by spreading out his arms as far as he can and kicking the whole night, Noah and I are both huging the edge of the bed for dear life. We both joke that we are going to have to get bed rails so we dont fall off the bed. Our baby is growing up too fast, I guess those extra 11 days in utero did that too him. I was driving by the elementary school the other day and saw some dads in uniform waiting outside for their kids. One little boy came running out of his classroom and jumped into his dads arms. I started to cry because I can see Landon doing that and I can just see the years zooming by. We are cherishing every moment with him because before we know it he will be going off on his own, I only hope that we are able to teach him all that we can before that time comes. Each day with him is a gift from god and I am so thankful that I am so blessed to be his mother and to be able to wake up next to one of gods miracles each and everyday. I valued the time when he is this little and wants to sleep with mommy and daddy, because one day that will be a fleeting memory that we can only look back on and smile with the deepest of love and gratitude.

Pregnancy and Birth!

This is a picture of me the night before I went to the hospital to be induced. I weighed 183 pounds. I was 140 before I got pregnant with Landon. My hands, face and feet (ankles and legs) had swollen up so much. By the time I left the hospital 2 days later I was 28 pounds lighter. Two weeks later I was back down to 140. So it was all baby!!!

These are of course all pictures of Landon right after he was born. When they took him to weigh him and clean him up. At first he was crying then he just started staring off at everything. This is our precious baby boy.

Landon is Here! Finally!!!

Well Landon Ross Jenkins finally made his grand enterance into the world on July 31st, 2006, after 13 hours of Labor. We went in at 6 oclock that morning for me to be induced. It was a slow going proccess at first. They gave me pitocon at 7 am to start the labor, I was already 2 centimeters dilated. The contractions would get going good and so they would turn down the pitocon, only for the contractions to slow down, so at about 12 they decided to leave the pitocon going strong and that finally got the labor really going. At around 2:30 I was in incredible pain and asked for the epidural (Im no hero, I wanted the drugs.) They called the anethesiologist who took forever to get there, so they gave me some fluids to try and help with the pain, I dont think it did anything for me. The on call nurse, Captain Petosky (Petey) was wonderful. She did not usually help the women in labor, she usually just ran the floor and directed people on what to do, but she said on occasion someone walks through the door who she feels compelled to work with and we just happened to grasp her attention. I am so greatful that she was there she really coached me through the pain, because the anethesiologist took almost 2 hours to get there to give me the epidural. Before the labor the epidural is what scared me the most, but by the time he got there to give it to me I was in so much pain I wanted to kiss the man who gave me the drugs. I did not really even feel anything, except the incredible contractions that were right on top of each other so it made it hard for him to get the needle (tube) all the way into my back so he only got it half way in, but it worked and thats all I cared about. They came in and broke my water right after that and checked me. I was at about a 6 so they said that it would probably be about another 4 hours, an hour for each centimeter I had left to go. This was at about 6, so they said they would check back in a few hours to see if I should start pushing. Nurse Petey got off at 7, so when she came back into tell me goodbye I told her I was really feeling a lot of pressure and she said that it was just from the epidural and that was the contractions, but that she would send in the new nurse to check on me. About 10-15 minutes later I feeling a lot of pressure and it was really hurting so when the new nurse, Lt. Foster came in I told her I really felt like I had to use the restroom, and she told me that I could not possibly be that far yet, but I kept telling her I really need to push, so she looked down there and saw Landons head and said "Oh my gosh! Yeah you need to push." So I started pushing, and my mom kept telling me she could she his hair and that there was lots of it, and that he was almost out. Well almost was not good enough for me, I want him to be out! After about 30 minutes of pushing, the delivery doctor came in, Major Quayle. She was wonderful, I had to push two set of 3 ten second pushes and he was out. I tore about a 2 and a half and she spent a long time sewing me up. She was very thorough. They set Landon on my lap, and he just looked up at me, not making a sound, just staring at me. Noah was able to cut the umbilical cord and cried the whole time. He said he was just so excited when he saw Landons balls because it meant that he really did have a son. When they took Landon to clean him up he started crying, he wanted his mommy back. He scored a 9-9 on his Apgar score and was very healthy. He weighed 8pnds 9.6 ounces and was born at 8:09 PM. Noah got to give him his first bath and then they measured him. He was a whopping 22 inches and everyone there said they had never worked on delivering a baby that long. It was a very wonderful delivery experience and all the people involved made it a true joy. I will upload pictures when the computer lets me. Sorry!!!

No baby yet!

Well there is no baby yet!!! Two and a half more days till his due date and I dont know how I have made it this long! My feet are so swollen I can barely walk and he has dropped so low that I can not even stand up on my own a lot of the time. Noah has to help me out of the bed at night when I have to use the restroom. I think its funny, everyone has been telling me to get as much sleep as I can before the baby is born, which Noah and I both think is a joke because I dont get ANY sleep now as it is. We are very excited and very ready for him to get here so we can kiss him and hug him and love on him. I do not even fit any of my clothes so I have been wearing Noahs shorts and shirts, since he has dropped so low my clothes dont even fit, not even the maternity clothes, they cut into my tummy.I have a huge belly as you can see and its all baby. I have gained right at what they tell you to gain and have not gained any weight anywhere but my belly, with exception to the swollen feet, ankles and calfs. Noah and I have been walking 1-2 miles every night( which takes forever since I waddle not walk) so I have been staying in pretty good shape. It has been a nice work out for both of us and we hope to be able to keep it up once Landon is born, well once he is big enough to take out, a few weeks. Okay well I just wanted to update everyone and let you know that there is still no baby, since everyone keeps asking. :O)

So much has happened

So much has happened in the last few months since we have updated the blog. First of all, we got Las Vegas and moved here at the end of May. On the way here we saw some beautiful scenery and finally knew the meaning of "Painted Desert." We also were able to cross over the Hoover Dam on the way into the Las Vegas Valley. It was really neat, both of us had seen it in movies but never in real life, it was truly an awesome sight. Before we left we were able to have the military movers come and move us, that was stressful, but not nearly as stressful as it would have been if we had moved ourselves. When we got to Las Vegas we had to stay in temporary housing till they could get us a house on base. Since we only had a month and a half till the baby was due this was a rather scarey thing for us because we had no idea whether or not we would be in a house before he came or not.
When we finally got the call telling us we had a house it was wonderful. We got to choose between two different style houses. The first was very nice and we were shocked at the size, then the second one we looked at caught us by surprise, it was soooo big!!!! At least for us, it has three good size bedrooms and a huge kitchen, bigger then any we have had up till this point, which is really nice because I have so much room to cook and manuver. The dining room is also very large, we split it up into two seperate rooms, one for the dining room and one part for Aurie's craft/sewing area. And there is still plenty of room in there for whatever we want. We also have a very large back yard with a nice size porch. Noah was very excited about this because it meant we could finally buy a grill. He loves to grill out and any time I have chicken or beef on our menu he asks me if he can cook it out. :O) Its very cute!!!! He has also taken great pride in yard work, he loves to go out and water the yard (or rather play in the sprinkler)! Our yard needed some TLC, and it has been fun trying to get the grass to grow and the bushes to sprout blossoms, its an adventure all in itself.

A few days after we got moved into our house, I started to have contractions that were very close together. I was only 34 weeks so they had to be stopped. I was in the hospital most of the evening and they were trying everything to get them to stop, they thought I might have been dehydrated so they gave me an IV to rehydrate me, even though Noah and I both told them that I drank tuns of water. After about 3 hours, and having my contractions getting worse, right on top of each other, they decided that I was not dehydrated (well duh!!! hadnt we told them that 3 hours before) anyway, I was having such painful contractions that I was miserable and had tears running down my cheeks, finally they decided that they needed to give me some pain medicine, but since I am allergic to the most commonly used ones they had to go and do some research to find out what they could give me. They eventually gave me some morphine, which stopped the contractions and they sent me home, with strick orders to stay in bed. Well that was not what I wanted to hear, since we had just moved into our house there was still so much to do. Noah was a big help and took over the decorating, under my direction of course :O).
My mom decided to come down and help which has been nice. It makes it a lot easier for me to rest having her here helping with the house hold duties. We have been joking because now I am almost 39 weeks and Landon has still not made his grand apperance. We say that he is saying, I tried coming out at 34 weeks but you made me stay in there so now I am not coming out. :O) Some times it feels like he will never come out but I think thats just the uncomfortable me talking. Well now we are just hurring up and waiting, but I promise I will put pictures on here after Landon is born and I won't take as long to update it as I did this time.

Noah!!!

Well Noah graduates from Tech School on Friday, and we recently found out that he is the Distinguished Graduate for his class, which means he is the Number 1 guy for the class, and I am so proud of him. Being the "DG" means that he gets to pick his own base. They ask you for your top three picks, and we asked for Nellis AFB Las Vegas Nevada, Mountain Home AFB Idaho, and Eglin AFB Fort Walton Beach Flordia, and today we found out that we got Nellis AFB LAS VEGAS. YEAH!!!!! Noah said he did a little dance, and if he had not called me and woke me up at 7 am I would have done a dance then too. I told him that I was too pregnant and it was too early in the morning for him to be joking with me, and he just laughed and said "Well good thing Im not joking." We are very excited. He has not officially got his orders yet which means we cant request housing or movers yet, but just to know where we are going is nice. Especially since its where we want to be going. We should be reunited sometime in the next week or so, which we are both really looking forward to. When I hear more (soon I hope) I will let yall know.

3D/4D Pictures of Landon

Here are the pictures of Landon that we go taken today. The whole time I was in the waiting room he was moving all over the place and the lady next to me could see my stomach just a moving, then as soon as we get in to take the ultrasound he decided it was time to go to sleep and we kept having to wake him back up. He is just stuborn :O) Two of the pictures are obviously his profile and one of them he is sucking on his hand, it looks like he is trying to fit the whole thing in his mouth, too cute. He is just too cute! I think, and so does granny, that he looks just like Noah, he has Noahs lips and nose and big ole eyes like both of us. I also think he has my chin, one of the picture you can kind of see the little "butt" chin. I just think he is of course the cutest baby in the whole world and I can't wait till he is here. Only 12 more weeks if he is on time. :O)

Daddy and Mommy to be

Well here you go. This is me at about 23-24 weeks pregnant (I am almost 26 now). I have people at the store asking me how far along I am and when I tell them they are stunned, they all say I look a lot farther along then that. I feel like I look huge, even Noahs shirts are starting to get tight around my tummy :O). But yall be the judge of how big I am, seriously let me know what you think, because I am not used to having to judge a pregnant belly. I have only gained 13 pounds, which is a little less then usually by this time, and its all belly as Noah says. I feel like I have gained weight in my face too. But maybe thats just me! So there is me and Landon! He has gotten to where he moves a lot and I can see my belly just going up and down. I will watch him move from one side to the other and just see my whole belly shift. 105 days to go, thats if he is born on his due date. I cant wait to see him and hold him. Then I will have my two favorite men with me. :O)

I told Noah that I had to get a picture of this, or no one would believe me!!! He can iron, all by himself, and probably does a heck of a better job then I could ever do myself. People are always commenting him on his uniforms and how well dressed he is. People are also paying him to iron their uniforms for them, cause he is so good at it. He takes pride in making sure he looks his best. He has for as long as I have known him and its no different now. He is hoping to get the best dressed coin at their next "inspection" he almost got it last time, but another guy beat him out. He is doing all he can to make sure he gets it this time. I am so proud of him and how hard he is working and the pride he is taking in his job. He really enjoys what he is doing, and can't wait to come home and really get to work in the field and have home cooked meals :O). I think he looks as handsome as ever and since he is just so wonderful on top of that is makes him even handsomer (if thats even possible).

Rock N' Roll Baby

I thought this was cute enough and funny enough that I thought I would share it with everyone. Well as most of you know, when the song Sweet Home Alabama comes on, I turn it up (just like the song says) and rock out. Well I have not since I have been pregnant, dont want to make the baby go deaf or anything:O). Well I recently bought the Forrest Gump soundtrack, because it has all my favorite oldies (but goodies) on it. I have been listening to it this morning while getting ready and straightening up and I figured all the moving was putting Landon to sleep because he had not really moved a ton yet. Well as soon Sweet Home Alabama came on he started to move all over the place, from the left to the middle to the right side of me, and kicking and rolling the whole time. I thought okay he is awake, and he likes these old songs. Well when the next song came on, he stopped moving. So I turned it back to Sweet Home Alabama and he started grooving again. Like mother like son!! He knows good music when he hears it. It cracked me up, I thought okay this boy has personality, and I know he can hear whats going on, at least the rhythm of it. Landon must like that guitar, so uncle Micah is going to have to perfect it, so he can play it for Landon. Plus I know that Micah has been working on Sweet Home Alabama anyway, so he will just have to play it for Landon sometime. :O)

Ultrasound (so handsome)

Here are some pictures of our beautiful baby boy. We are naming him Landon Ross Jenkins. (Ross of course being Noahs middle name too) The picture at the bottom is the babies head. You can kind of see to the right of his head one of his little hands in a fist up by his mouth. The other hand is up by his ear and if you look close enough you can see his little fist and arm. At the middle of the right hand side you can see his leg bent and his little knee. The cord behind his head is of course the umbilical cord. :O) The other picture I think turned out great. You can see his big ole head with his sweet little nose (I think it looks just like Noahs nose.) and in the video we got made his lips are big and pouty like Noahs, you can kind of see how big they are in the picture too. Then you of course have his little neck and his spine and then the umbilical cord at his tummy, you can also see parts of his legs too on the bottom right hand side.
I am going to see Noah next weekend and I am going to take the video to him, so he can see his son for the first time. We got very good shots of his little wee wee on the video and great shots of the side and front of his face. He is a wiggle worm and would not quit moving. He was doing barrel rolls and throwing his arms out above his head and kicking out his feet and then pulling them back in. He is a very active little baby. The doctor said that both he and I are doing great and are right on track for where we should be. He weighs about 14 ounces which is 5 more then he weighed 2 weeks ago, he is is steadily growing. I am thrilled to have this little precious life growing inside of me, and Noah and I are both blessed with this amazing child and the opportunity to be parents and to raise this child (and hopefully more) and teach them and learn from them. I love this baby so much already and he is not even out of the womb yet. I never thought I could love someone as much as I love Noah, now I am carring our baby and I love it so much, but in such a different way.

Handsome man pictures

When I went to visit Noah in San Antonio, TX for his basic training graduation (where he graduated with Honors, YEAH!!!!) we had the opportunity to go to The wax museum, Ripleys Believe it or Not, and The Alamo. The top picture of of the ever so handsome Noah in his dress blues standing next to a statue of the worlds tallest man. And we thought Noah was huge!!!
This is a picture Noah (of course) again in his dress blues (which I think he is very good looking in) next to a beautiful greekish looking fountain inside the gates of the Alamo.
Again, Noah next to Indiana Jones wax statue at the wax museum. I really don't think there is any comparison though, Noah is definitely WAY better looking. Now don't get me wrong Indiana Jones is good looking, just not as good looking as Noah. And they both have on their work attire, both "serving" and protecting, :O) but in a little different way. I think its funny that forever Noah was/is so worried about going bald, like to the point that he quit wearing hats. And now he shaves his head for his job. So in the end he has no hair anyway, but I think he is totally good looking with out hair, and with hair too, so he really had nothing to worry about.

This is a more recent picture, its from when I went to visit him towards the middle of February. I went down with two other girls whose husbands are at school with Noah. One of them is LDS like Noah and I, and they have a little baby girl. The weather while we were there was not very pretty. It was always overcast and chilly, of course right after we left it shot up to mid 70's low 80's, go figure. There was one semi warm day and so we decided to cook out. Steaks, sausage, and baked potatoes. The men were doing their "manly" things and lighting up the grills to cook to food, which took them longer then it should have :O) but we could of course not interrupt their manly duties and help the process along. So we just stood by waiting for the food. It was very fun actually and nice to be around other young couples who like us have their whole lives ahead of them. It was nice to be around them and to hear what there plans for their futures in the Air Force were. I am beginning to love being an Air Force wife, it has its down-falls, like Noah being gone, but they really do take care of us, and its a nice community of people who are doing the same thing we are. It is wonderful that Noah enjoys what he is doing and that he has found a job that he is proud of doing and that he is working hard in class and on his own to learn as much as he can and to be the best at what he does. I read on some web site that "air traffic controllers are the best of the best of the air force, and that they are not to modest to admit it," well that is Noah and it makes me very proud to be his wife.

Gulf Coast Pictures

Well I finally got the pictures back from when I went to visit Noah last month in Biloxi, MS. It was wonderful to be able to see him and spend time with him. We got the opportunity to drive around and look at the horrible destruction caused by hurricane Katrina 6 months ago. It was a humbling experience to see what little these people have left and to see what really happened there. You hear about it on the news but seeing it first hand was something else.
The top left hand two pictures are both of apartment complexes that have basically nothing left. The top of the two however still has people living in it and trying to survive on what little is left. In the bottom one we saw a TV that was sitting on a shelf built into the wall but there was no floor or ceiling. The bottom left hand picture is just one of the many resturants along the coast that was completely taken out by the flooding and wind. All that was left of this IHOP was the sign. A rather haunting memory of what used to be. The two right hand pictures are of two homes that were devestated by the hurricanes. The first one was I am sure at one time a beautiful Antebellum home, but now its completely missing the inside of it. There was a grandfather clock and a mirror sitting on what little floor was left with no ceiling or walls surrounding it. The bottom one was rather sombering with the American flag flying half mast out front. A reminder that unforseen battles are being fought in our home land. The picture on the bottom right is of a Casino that used to be over the ocean. It was a hotel/casino that looked like a pirate ship. The water and winds carried it 1/4th of a mile inland and it had to be moved back to the beach.
These are just a few examples of what they are struggling with on the coast. Noah said when he first got there that there was just a certain smell in the area. When I got there I noticed the same smell, it was almost like death and the ocean combined. Its going to take a long time to get the area cleaned up and put back together. I imagine that at one time it was a truely beautiful place to visit. Amazingly the base Noah is one, which is only like a mile from the beach was not harmed to badly and has been put back together rather well. Being on the base you would not know what the city outside its gates held.

Noahs Address

I figured I should probably give all of ya'll Noahs address at Tech School, so if you felt like sending him anything you would be able too. I am sure he would absolutely love to hear from everybody and know how everyone is doing as well.

Noah and Me

This is me and Noah before he left for basic. Now he has no hair literally, on his face or on his head, but he is still handsome as ever.

First Entry

Well this is the first entry into The Jenkins Family blog, where do I even begin. So much has been happening in our lives lately that I figured if I created a place where I could just write it down once then I could share it with everyone and no one would feel like they were out of the loop, per say.

As of November 2oth 2005 Noah was well on his way to being a true blue military man. He is now in his Tech School in Biloxi, Mississippi where he is learning to be an Air Traffic Controller. We recently found out that he will being doing Radar for the military, but that in 2 years he will be certified and then will have to be trained and certified into Tower as well, so he will have both areas of A.T.C. under his belt and will be prepared for whatever comes his/our way. He loves what he is doing and can not stop talking about everything he is learning. It is very exciting to hear him talk and to hear about all the things he has been doing because you can really tell that his heart is in this job and that he is truly happy with his career choice. I could not be happier knowing that he is happy and is enjoying what he is doing. His set date for graduation from Tech School, provided he passes all his tests, is April 28th. And from there WE (yeah finally we will be back together after almost 6 months apart) will be headed to....who knows where, where ever the military sees fit to send us. We will hopefully know by the end of the month.

I am in my 22nd week of pregnancy and fixing to start my 6th month. It has so far been a very thrilling experience and I hate that Noah only get to hear about it over the phone, but we are very blessed and very thankful for this baby. For the past few weeks I have been able to feel the baby moving inside of me, rolling around, kicking, doing jumping jacks, what have you, but the other day for the first time, I could see him moving. Yes I said him, the doctor says he is 1000 percent boy. I go for my next ultrasound next week and for Kurts sake, as well as you other non believers :O) I am going to make sure we get a picture of its little wee wee. Anyway I could feel him moving up a storm so I looked down and could see him moving, so I put my hand there and he just kept kicking it non stop. I started crying, yeah I know im a big baby, but it was just so amazing, its an incredible feeling having such a precious life growing inside of me but to actually see it and feel the outline of it with my hand was so truly wonderful. He is long like his daddy, but skinny as a whip, probably because he does not quit moving, again just like his daddy. Whenever Noah calls I put the phone on speakerphone and put it on my tummy so that the baby will know mine and Noahs voices and very time, he starts kicking like crazy. I thought maybe is was just another voice but I tried it with a few other people and he did not move, so he knows his daddies voice and gets excited, I don't blame him, its a very soothing, yet powerful and full of love voice.
