So its about time I posted this story. I finally had some time during nap time to sit down and type it all up.
I went to school with a girl named Caewyn and I thought she had the prettiest name when I met her, it was different, something I had never heard before. We hung out a lot my Senior year of high school and even dressed up like the powder puff girls for Halloween, lol found memories. Anyway I always loved her name, so it was stored in my memory. One day when we were watching lord of the rings, I heard the princess of Rohan's name Eowyn (prounounces A-o win) and thought it was beautiful too. Not a huge massive crazy lord of the rings fan, but it’s a good movie and I enjoy the story line and especially the role of Eowyn. So when we found out we were having a girl we tossed around those names a bit along with some others that just never really clicked. Since the boys have only a and o vowels in their names and all of them have irish/celtic names we decided to use kind of a combo of the names Caewyn and Eowyn and keep with the A and O theme. Also all of the kids names come from or are a version of a name from a movie, Landon is from a Walk to Remember, Braddoc is from Cinderella Man and Tayton is from Little Man Tate so we thought we should stick with the movie theme as well. And from that came the name Aowyn (pronounces A-uh-win with a long A sound).
We loved the name Aowyn but could not come up with a middle name, we debated on several but neither of us could agree on any. We talked about using Joyce after my grandmother who passed away when Noah and I first started dating, I adored her and think about her often. That was my favorite name to use because it came from someone I loved. Noahs grandma who passed away recently also had the name of Joyce, but she was not a very nice lady, so Noah was not a fan of it because of that. He didn’t want our daughter to have a name that was the name of such a mean person. So that one really got vetoed.
All of the kids have middle names of people who mean something to us in our lives, not neccessarly a relative but someone who we admire. Landons is Ross, after Noah’s (which is from Betsy Ross who sewed the first American flag, whom we are related to.) Braddocs is Ammon after our favorite character from the Book of Mormon and Taytons is Bryant afte Bear Bryant, the most winning coach in Alabama football history ( and of course we are HUGE Alabama football fans). So her middle name had to be special too. Noah and I both love Charlotte and Scarlet so we talked about those, but the only thing special about those what that they are southern and we love the south. I love the names but it just didn’t feel right to not have a name that was special. We talked about Ruby, my great grandmother who I also adored but Noah didn’t like that name, especially paired with Aowyn. We talked about Anaston the other girls name that we debated using because it was a town in Alabama that we both loved and where Noah was going to propose but didn’t (a whole nother story right there). The last thing was to use a name with Ray in it somewhere. My name is after my grandpa (my dads dad) Ray Engels Bailey. He had a friend named Ray as well so when he went out people would call him his first and middle Initial, R. E. and there came my name. My dads middle name is also Ray and my brothers middle name is Ray. My brother Micah is how Noah and I met and at one point we had talked about using his name as one of our boys middle names because he was special to both of us and our meeting. But there was no name that we liked enough that had Ray in it to use.
So when we went into labor we still hadn’t really fully settled on a middle name, we said Aowyn Anaston, but both of us keep asking each other, "Are you sure?" It just didn’t feel right. My nurse was a friend from church name Lorraine, I think she is so sweet and she has been here for years, and every time I have had a baby here she has been off or out of town, and she always jokes with me about planning my babies for when she is not there, so when I found out she was my nurse I was thrilled. Everytime I have ever talked to her on the phone I tell Noah as soon as I get off the phone, “I really love her name.” so of course in the 18 hrs of delivery the topic came up of how much I liked her name and how I had never met anyone with that name, the only time I had ever heard it before her was on Back to the Future and when I heard it on there I thought it was a cool name. She laughed and said that she had never met anyone with it either. That was it, not even a thought about using it as a name, just the fact that we loved it.
Through the course of delivery, which was so intense and painful, totally natural but not by choice and very scary, Lorraine was my advocate and by my side the whole time. The babies cord was around her neck, she was face up and her head was side ways (they could feel her ear instead of the top of her head), all of these things they didn’t know prior to delivery and each was discovered through some scary turn of events during the labor process. I was stuck at a 9 for 9 hours and Aowyn kept going into distress, they had to give me medicine to stop my contractions because with everyone her heart rate would drop and not come back up before another one started. One of the doctors wanted to do a csection because everything was so bad and I was not progressing. The other two doctors agreed but Lorraine wasn’t having it, she told them to give her an hour and to not freak out if the babies heart rate dropped. She rolled me over to my stomach and helped me get on my hands and knees, I was in so much pain I was screaming and she stood there for a whole hour rubbing my shoulders and holding of my legs when they got tired. She rubbed my neck and would push the hair out of my face and helped me breath through the pain. The babies heart rate didn’t drop with contractions it stayed up, she watched the moniter the whole time and would tell me “she is looking beautiful Aurie, you are doing good.” I was so worried about the baby and Lorraine knew it so she made sure that she kept me informed every minute, literally, of the babies progress. After an hour on my hands and knees I couldn’t do anymore so she layed me flat on my belly and gave me oxygen, and rubbed my head as I screamed in pain from the contractions. Finally I couldn’t take anymore and said, “do whatever you have to do to get her out, I feel like Im dieing.” Thankfully that meant it was time to push. The doctors couldn’t believe that I didn’t have to have a csection all of them were in awe. Lorraine saved me from a c-section and was my hero.
After Aowyn was out and laying on my stomach with tears in my eyes I looked at Noah who said, “her middle name is Lorraine.” I smiled and nodded because I too had been thinking the same thing, “with a y in stead of an I for the ray from all the men in my family and so she can have some my my name too.” i said. And that was it, nothing else felt so right. I looked at my beautiful daughter, Aowyn Lorrayne Jenkins and knew that was exactly who she was. The name felt so right and was so perfect and of course is very special to us. A story that we can tell her anytime she wants to know where we got her name.

Tayton Bryant
Warning: LOADS of pictures ahead.
So I finally went into labor on my own. Third times the charm so they say. :O) I am so greatful to have gone into labor on my own, it was a much nicer experience all together, however the two weeks on intense contractions were not the funnest but they were still better then induction contractions.
Anyway heres the story: Wednesday night Noah has a ball game so I made sure I walked all around with the boys, I was just at 37 weeks and figured I better really work on getting him out now. I was having contractions for a few weeks so I figured there was no harm in trying to help them along. Tuesday at my doctors appointment she told me I was a good 3 and very soft and that really it could be anyday, so I knew something might happen. All night Wed. night I could not sleep I was so uncomfortable. All morning on Thursday I felt sick to my stomach and had been throwing up most the morning, by the time Noah left for work on Thursday I was really uncomfortable, but having never gone into labor on my own I had no idea thats what was happening. When I woke up from nap around 4 I was feeling a lot of pressure and tightness. About 30 minutes later I started bleeding and freaked out a bit and called the doctor who said all was fine and to just relax and if I was still bleeding the next day to call back. I called Noah to see if he could come home early because I felt really bad. He got home around 5 and by then I was moving around just to try to relieve some of the pressure. We ate dinner (or they did, I was nausuas and not hungery) and then we decided to go on a walk. I about died, I was huffing and puffing and in so much pain. When we got home I called the doctor back (labor and delivery this time) and when I told them about the pain and bleeding they told me to come in immediately. We loaded up the boys and took them to our wonderful friends The Stewarts house and in my mind I was so hoping this was it but I figured it probably was not just because I had never gone on my own.
We get to the hospital and they take one look at my face walking in the door and said "Thats the look, she has the face of a woman in labor." (seriously I look that much in pain?) So they hook me up and come in about 30 minutes later and say "You said you thought you were having contractions?" I said "Yeah they are pretty intense, alot of pressure so I think thats them, nothing like induction contractions but Im pretty sure they are contractions." The sweet nurse Angie looks at me and says "We are not picking up any on the monitor." I thought I was going to cry....seriously, and right then I felt another one coming and told her as much so she felt me belly and sure enough was shoked that I was having one because it still was not on the monitor. She moved the monitor around and after 10 minutes came back and said "Yep you have 3 in the last 10 minutes." She then checked me and said "Your a 5 we are having a baby." YEAH!!!!
Then we talked about pain managment. I decided its a first time for everything so Im going natural. The doc Dr. Torres comes in and tells me my water is bulging and that it will go faster if they break it, I tell her to go for it and instantly go to a 6 almost 7. All well and good and Im making it through the pain (as they said like a champ) by walking around and watching tv while bouncing on a ball until after 3 hours (about midnight) all contractions stop. Really???? So then I get the option of an epidural to try and get some sleep and see if that helps me progress. I did not want one (its my least favorite part of labor and by this point Im not having contractions so really no pain) but after Noahs coxing I finally get one. It took them an hour and a half to get the dang thing in. After 4 tries they finally get it in and I start shaking uncontrollably and so obviously get no sleep, the nurse checks me and Im at an 8. After about 3 hours so roughly 4:30 am (still no sleep) the nurse comes into check me again and Im still at an 8 and no progress for Tayton moving lower either. I look at Noah and through my massively chattering teeth and tears tell him how discouraged I am and how tired I am. Right then we loss Tayton on the monitors and so Angie is trying to get him back on the monitor, another nurse comes in to help and after about 5 minutes (4:35) they tell me they are going to have to hook him up to the internal monitor. They go to put hook it up and tell me to not move because "OMG his head is literally right here, he has black hair too. Dont breath or move we need to get the doctor." So in 5 minutes I go from that 8 to a 10 and he is here waiting. I kept telling her while she was trying to fix the monitor that something felt different.... so I guess I was right.
So Dr. Torres comes in and laughs because he is so close to coming out. She tells me to push and I give her my Landon and Braddoc push and she yells "STOP, not so hard, I should have known you are a pro at this, I just need to to like cough because his head is almost out." Seriously? NO pushing at all? So I cough about twice and out he comes. HOLY COW!!!!! so thats what all those woman talk about when they say they did not have to push, I never thought I would be one of them but I guess I was wrong.
So needless to say it went fast once it happened. :O) My discouragement quickly faded to pure joy (it lasted only 5 minutes before I was told he was on his way) and the joy has yet to stop.
Here I am 37 weeks on the dot getting ready to get checked out to see if its the real deal.
Tayton Bryant Jenkins
6 pounds 8.4 ounces
20 inches
6/11/10
4:47 am
The rest are in no particular order.
My sweet little angel. He is such a good baby. He hardly makes a peep (he however is an occasionally noisy sleeper)
All my babies with their hats that their adopted Grandma Waite made them (she is my Visting Teacher and they love her)
What a sweet angel!!!

First simi real bath. :O)
Braddocs kisses look more like bites.... but Im glad he loves his baby brother so much. (look at my face, I look horrid.)
They both want to hold him all the time and fight over who gets to hold him first. I am glad they love him so much. They are both being such big helpers and great big brothers.
His coming home from the hospital outfit. The shorts literally fell off, he is so tiny.
My super cheesie boy!!!

First time holding Tayton!
First time holding his baby, and being introduced as a big brother. It was a big day for Braddoc.

Just a few hours after he was born.
First kiss!!!

Tayton is now 6 pounds 5 ounces. Poor guy has acid reflux and cant keep anything down, but he is such a good sport and does not cry at all, even when I have to change him 10 times a day because he spits up all over. He sleeps for 4 hour stretchs except at night when I have to wake him after 6 hours. About 10-4. One night he went down at 9 and I woke up at 5 thinking oh my gosh I need to feed him and he was still sound asleep. I am so happy and feel so lucky to have three amazing sons. Life is good!!!
I will post later about how we got the name Tayton Bryant because of course there is a story behind all our kids names. :O)

The Labor and Delivery!

Okay so finally I have some time to get on here and post about the labor and delivery. Between packing to move and handling two little men I have not had a whole lot of time, but since Braddoc is napping and Landon is gone with Daddy I have a few minutes to get on here and post about the delivery.
So I went in at 5 to be induced, (a lady walked in the same time as me in Labor and dilated the same as me.) I was given the whole run down on the induction procedures, the usually, "it may not take and if it does not we will send you home, you have till 4 to be in active labor or you go home and wait it out", (should be easy enough I'm already at a 3 1/2-4 depending on who checks me.) and then given the whole run down on the risks involved. For some reason this time around I actually got a little nervous when he started talking about all the risks, like C-Sections and uncontrolled bleeding, fevers ect. That stuff wont happen to me right?!!! Then they check to see if he is in the right position. "Oh minor set back, he is facing sideways!!! So just rotate from side to side every 30 minutes and he should turn"...... we shall see!!!
So they start the Pitocin at 6:30 and check me! "About a 4, almost fully effaced and water is bulging, this should go really quick, so just relax and get some rest". Okay easy enough, right?! Wrong! The contractions start almost immediately and don't let up at all, another one is starting before the last one ends. So after about 2 hours of this, they come check me again. A good solid 4 but nothing different, be back in an hour. After another hour, 4 1/2 yeah!!! Moving right along!!! Or not. The next few times they check me I have not budged. So now its if I don't make any more progress by 3 I go home. Now the icing on the cake at this point. The lady that came in the same time as me, dilated the same as me, had her baby 2 HOURS AGO!!!! And another has come in since me and delivered as well. Its my turn!!!
Now its almost 12 and I have been having contractions that are killing me, (worse then with Landon) for several hours, no relief and no movement. I am getting frustrated. Oh and the turning every 30 minutes is murder! I can not get comfy. So they have me stand and rock back and forth holding onto Noah, then bounces up and down will rocking back and forth, then some squats.... don't you nurses know that this is VERY painful!!! My doctor, Dr. Nejduco transferred here from Cook County (you know the hospital ER is filmed at and about) so she is pretty much no pain no gain, big ole Black lady, who really is as sweet as can be, but she has seen it all so, deal with the pain!!! No epidural till you hit a 5!!! My poor nurses finally convinced her that I was in a ton of pain and that my contractions were very intense so she gave me some Finagrin and Stadol. It took the edge off and I was able to drift in and out of sleep for a bit. Finally at about 1 they check me again!!! NO PROGRESS!!!!!! "Okay Mrs. Jenkins if you don't make progress in the next hour we will have to send you home." WHAT!!! That's now 2 and not 3 or 4!!! So here I am in tears, I went through all this and now I'm going to have to go home and hope he comes on his own. What is with me and getting stuck at a 4 1/2? The same thing happened with Landon, but I was so over due that they were not going to send me home till he came, take all the time in the world. Not this time, I had an hour to make progress or go home!!!
So here it is 1:30 and I beg the nurse to check me! YIPPIE!!!! I am at a 5! "Do you want an epidural?" YES about 5 hours ago! So they call the doc in, she checks me, sure enough I am in active labor and we can break the water and let the real fun begin. So they call the Anesthesiologist and we wait. At least this time he only took about an hour instead of over 3 like with Landon. So its 2:30 I have my epidural, but something does not feel right, I can still feel a lot of pain on the left side but nothing at all on the right, not even my toes. They stick me with a needle later in my leg and I don't even know it! I tell the nurse and she says "That's normal!" I don't think so!!! They give me the catheter, PAIN!!!! I feel the whole thing, something is not right! "The Epidural guy said to call him if I felt like this, so please call him!!!" "Oh no you are okay!" Break my water, I feel the whole thing!!! This really hurts!!! So they check the catheter, over and over and reposition it over and over!! PAIN PAIN and more PAIN! STOP! Get the doc back in here to fix this, I feel the pain every contraction right there on the catheter. "Mama just turn up your medicine." So I do, even more tingling numbness in the right side, nothing in the left. Okay Ill deal! So I send Noah home to get Landon so I can see him one last time as my only baby, since the nurse says its going to be awhile and he will probably be in bed by the time the baby gets here. So he leaves! About 5 minutes later, Braddoc's heart rate drops. Down below 100! People start running into the room and making me turn, not so easy when I cant move my right side. They turn me to the left, his heart rate drops to the 40's, not good! They turn me to the right his heart rate shoots up to the 250's okay still not good, moving turning, dropping to about 44 then shooting up to the 250-270 range. More people running into the room. Putting the oxygen mask on me. Bringing in C-Section consent forms. The whole time I am so lost and no one is really explaining to me whats going on. I am crying and I'm all alone in a room full of people! Just when I feel like I am about to lose it Noah walks in carrying Landon, who immediately starts to freak out. All these people around mommy, a funny thing on her face. Why didn't some one tell my poor husband, "You might not want to take him in there."? So I pull the mask off, show Landon I am okay, give him a kiss and shoo them out the door. "Take him home and come back, FAST!!!" So he heads out the room and the mask goes back on. Still no one has bothered to really tell me, or at this time my very confused, concerned husband, what is going on besides, "If his heart rate does not stabilize we will have to do a C-Section." By this time Braddoc's heart rate is staying below 100 and I keep telling the nurse, "I hurt more and more with every contraction right on the catheter. I don't know how much more I can take." She asks, "Is it pressure? Surely you have not hit a 10 yet, its only been 45 minutes since you really hit a 5 and we broke your water." My response, "I don't know, it just hurts like nothing I have ever felt before." So she checks me!!! "HOLY COW, your at a 9 1/2 just a slight lip and you will be a 10, its time to start pushing." No calling the doctor, she is already in there along with all the whole floor of nurses. Oh and its not the doctor I have had all day, its a new one, my docs in a meeting. The new one, Dr. Gould, very sweet lady who really helped me out a ton.
Okay you can start pushing. "MY HUSBAND I CANT DO THIS WITH OUT MY HUSBAND!!" "What?" I repeat myself about 4 times, before someone gets smart and takes my mask off. "Can someone please stop my husband, I don't want to do this with out him." So off they go chasing him down and luckily he has not made it to the car yet. So some change of people, someone to watch Landon till my parents get there and I have my husband back and can start pushing. Oh wait!!! All that turning back and forth every 30 minutes, did not turn Braddoc from his sideways position. So I have to push him out that way! Since I had a horrible epidural I could not feel anything on the right side when I pushed and my pushes were not as effective on that side, which happened to be the side he was facing, so he kept getting stuck. "How long did you push with your first one?" "45 minutes" "Okay this will be much faster." Wrong again. I have never hurt so badly. I seriously thought I could not do it, I just wanted to give up and be done, I could not push any more. They kept telling me to scream, and so I would with every push. Then I would apologize after I was done pushing, for screaming, they just laughed and told me they rarely hear "Sorry!" In the delivery room from the lady in labor. If he did not make progress on that push I would apologize again.
I was screaming and crying and thought I would not make it. All I thought with every push was "Heavenly Father I can not do this alone, I need your help." I could not hold my legs to help me because of the epidural and then to top it all off, my left leg got a bad cramp and started to shake uncontrollably which made it almost impossible to push right. Finally, after 45 minutes of pushing he came out, and I tell you those last few pushes were not me, I could not have possibly done it by myself, I was so worn out and so sick that I know if it had not been for Heavenly Father, I might not have made it through. Oh and you know how they tell you to stop pushing when the head comes out? Not this monster, "Honey you have to keep pushing we cant get him out." So I push some more and what do you know, a dream I had months ago about his feet getting stuck in me came true. His feet got stuck on my pelvic bone, so I had to push those out too.
They laid him on me and I feel in love. He was/ is so beautiful, so perfect and worth every second. The heart rate changes were caused by his dropping so fast into the birth canal. He went so fast that he hit his head on my pelvic bone and cut it open, so he had a nice bloody cut there. Poor guy it was a hard trip. I just wanted to hold him forever and never let go. The whole room stood still, it was just me and him. This perfect angel was mine. I finally look up at Noah who had tears streaming down his face, it was such a perfect moment. Then they took him away to clean him up and the rush of adrenaline wore off. Something else was not right, I feel really hot and really sick to my stomach. They take my temp. and I have a very high fever. So they load me up with cold rags and give me that lovely shot in my right leg that I never felt. They try to bring Braddoc back to me, but I tell them I can not take him, I really feel sick. I start shaking all over and can not stop. Then it happens! I throw up and can't stop that either. Landon comes into the room, to see baby brother and poor kid walks into see Mommy throwing up and shaking with rags all over her and tons of people standing over her trying to stop whatever it was that was going on. Twice in one day was he traumitized, poor guy, I hope it does not scare him of hospitals. I was so sick to my stomach and so tired that I still don't really know what was happening.
Finally the fever subsides, so does the sickness and after 2 hours, I finally get to hold my baby and feed him. And then I start to think, I can do this again!!! Funny because it took me 10 months after having Landon to say "Okay I can do that labor stuff again." This time labor was 10 million times more crazy and more painful and it only took 2 hours for me to say "I can do this again." I know the joy of having a baby and I know the joy of what is to come, and its all worth it.
INTRODUCING............
The newest addition to the Jenkins family, Braddoc Ammon Jenkins. (I'll explain where we got the name later when I have more time and energy.) He weighed a whopping 8 pnds 12 oz and was a long boy at 22 1/2 inches. He was 3 oz more then Landon and only 1/4 an inch shorter. We have big babies!!!
He was born at 5:19 p.m. on 08/08/08. It was an 11 hour labor and the end went very quick and was very scarey, there was some major complications with the epidural (always my fear) which caused several problems with the delivery including a scarey few minutes where we thought we would have to do an emergency C-Section or loose Braddoc (again Ill explain later).
But he is okay and I am okay and home now and doing wonderful. I never would have thought life could be so much more perfect with a new addition. He is precious and perfect and just fits right into our family. I can not imagine life with out him now. As soon as they thought we were losing him it really sunk in that our family needed this little baby and that he had to make it because he would be lost with out him. We are so blessed and so in love! We love this little man more then we could ever explain. The second they layed him on my chest I grew a new heart, a Braddoc heart. :O)

Landon is Here! Finally!!!
Well Landon Ross Jenkins finally made his grand enterance into the world on July 31st, 2006, after 13 hours of Labor. We went in at 6 oclock that morning for me to be induced. It was a slow going proccess at first. They gave me pitocon at 7 am to start the labor, I was already 2 centimeters dilated. The contractions would get going good and so they would turn down the pitocon, only for the contractions to slow down, so at about 12 they decided to leave the pitocon going strong and that finally got the labor really going. At around 2:30 I was in incredible pain and asked for the epidural (Im no hero, I wanted the drugs.) They called the anethesiologist who took forever to get there, so they gave me some fluids to try and help with the pain, I dont think it did anything for me. The on call nurse, Captain Petosky (Petey) was wonderful. She did not usually help the women in labor, she usually just ran the floor and directed people on what to do, but she said on occasion someone walks through the door who she feels compelled to work with and we just happened to grasp her attention. I am so greatful that she was there she really coached me through the pain, because the anethesiologist took almost 2 hours to get there to give me the epidural. Before the labor the epidural is what scared me the most, but by the time he got there to give it to me I was in so much pain I wanted to kiss the man who gave me the drugs. I did not really even feel anything, except the incredible contractions that were right on top of each other so it made it hard for him to get the needle (tube) all the way into my back so he only got it half way in, but it worked and thats all I cared about. They came in and broke my water right after that and checked me. I was at about a 6 so they said that it would probably be about another 4 hours, an hour for each centimeter I had left to go. This was at about 6, so they said they would check back in a few hours to see if I should start pushing. Nurse Petey got off at 7, so when she came back into tell me goodbye I told her I was really feeling a lot of pressure and she said that it was just from the epidural and that was the contractions, but that she would send in the new nurse to check on me. About 10-15 minutes later I feeling a lot of pressure and it was really hurting so when the new nurse, Lt. Foster came in I told her I really felt like I had to use the restroom, and she told me that I could not possibly be that far yet, but I kept telling her I really need to push, so she looked down there and saw Landons head and said "Oh my gosh! Yeah you need to push." So I started pushing, and my mom kept telling me she could she his hair and that there was lots of it, and that he was almost out. Well almost was not good enough for me, I want him to be out! After about 30 minutes of pushing, the delivery doctor came in, Major Quayle. She was wonderful, I had to push two set of 3 ten second pushes and he was out. I tore about a 2 and a half and she spent a long time sewing me up. She was very thorough. They set Landon on my lap, and he just looked up at me, not making a sound, just staring at me. Noah was able to cut the umbilical cord and cried the whole time. He said he was just so excited when he saw Landons balls because it meant that he really did have a son. When they took Landon to clean him up he started crying, he wanted his mommy back. He scored a 9-9 on his Apgar score and was very healthy. He weighed 8pnds 9.6 ounces and was born at 8:09 PM. Noah got to give him his first bath and then they measured him. He was a whopping 22 inches and everyone there said they had never worked on delivering a baby that long. It was a very wonderful delivery experience and all the people involved made it a true joy. I will upload pictures when the computer lets me. Sorry!!!
